Cheering for Pakistan
has landed Kashmiri students at Swami Vivekanand Subharti University in
fresh trouble, with sedition charges being reportedly slapped against
67 students who had gone berserk after Pakistan trounced India in the
Asia Cup thriller on Sunday.
The varsity had earlier suspended these students and packed them
off to nearby Ghaziabad in buses. Some students are reportedly back with
their families in the Valley.
The students from Kashmir had, allegedly, raised pro-Pakistan
slogans after Shahid Afridi blitz propelled Pakistan to one-wicket win
over India in Mirpur. They also damaged university property, it was
reported. Eyewitnesses said heated exchanges followed all-rounder Shahid
Afridi’s last-over sixes off Ravichandran Ashwin, which quickly
escalated to brawls, followed by several rounds of stone-pelting
